| Barry Humphreys
After completing his Ph.D in Air Transport Economics at the University of Leeds, Barry Humphreys joined the UK Civil Aviation Authority as an economist, subsequently becoming Economic Adviser. During a lengthy career with the CAA he worked in several areas within the Economic Regulation Group, eventually becoming Head of Air Services Policy, a member of the CAA’s Senior Management Group. In 1995, he joined Virgin Atlantic Airways as Director of External Affairs and Route Development. Dr. Humphreys continues to lecture widely and has published numerous papers and studies on air transport economics and regulation. He is a Director of National Air Traffic Services Ltd. (NATS, the provider of UK ATC services), the Airline Group (which owns 46% of NATS), Airport Co-ordination Ltd., the Board of Airline Representatives UK, Chairman of the Caribbean Britain Business Council and Board Member of the UK India Business Council. He is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and the Tourism Society.
