  Niels Ladefoged

Mr. Niels Ladefoged is a policy officer in the "Clean Air and Transport Unit" of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Environment. He has been working on environmental aspects of EU air transport policy since 2001 and been responsible for developing the Commission's new strategy on aviation and climate change. He was also responsible for following it up with a proposal on aviation and emissions trading and participated in parallel in the work of ICAO's Emissions Trading Task Force (ETTF). Before coming to the Commission, Mr. Ladefoged worked in the Danish Ministry of Energy & Environment on a number of issues including energy demand forecasting, integrated resource planning and market-based renewable electricity support schemes. Mr. Ladefoged has a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in energy conversion and emissions.
