  Mr. Michael J. Francesconi

Mr. Michael Francesconi is Vice President, UPS Airlines Public Affairs and Strategic Communications.

UPS Airlines is the 8th largest airline in the world, but only one small part of UPS – the global integrator, employing over 420,000 people and moving over 15 million packages and documents per day. Mr. Francesconi manages the airline’s efforts to build strong government partnerships and media relations and to strengthen the company's reputation among the public and employees. Additionally, he works to ensure UPS possesses the domestic and international aviation authorities necessary to link UPS customers and businesses all over the world.

Mr. Francesconi brings a diverse background in aviation and public affairs to the position. A native of Pittsburgh, he joined UPS in 2005 as public affairs manager in Washington, D.C. Before that, he was a corporate attorney specializing in aviation and transportation issues and worked closely with UPS as outside counsel on aviation transactions and regulatory matters. As a U.S. Army cavalry officer and helicopter pilot, he served in leadership and staff positions in aviation units in the United States and abroad. He was decorated for combat actions in Operation Desert Storm.

A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, he received his law degree, with honors, at Catholic University Law School in Washington, D.C. He is admitted to the state bars of Virginia, the District of Columbia and various U.S. federal courts at the District, Appellate and Supreme Court levels.

Mr. Francesconi works with a number of aviation associations and trade groups, including the Cargo Airline Association and the Air Transport Association. He serves on the International Aviation Club of Washington, D.C. Board of Directors and the Catholic University Law School Board of Visitors.
