  Hisashi Umezaki
President, Tokyo Metro Co.,Ltd.

 Mr. Umezaki has been the President, Tokyo Metro Co., Ltd. since April 2004. As the President, Mr. Umezaki is responsible for top management and the leadership of the Tokyo Metro Co.,Ltd., which has 8,643 employees and owns and operates a network of eight subway lines in the heart of Tokyo, which means its networks functions as the core of the railway transportation system for the entire Tokyo Metropolitan Area. Each day it carries 5.69 million passengers.

Before joining the Tokyo Metro Co.,Ltd., he had served as an official of the Japanese government for more than 34 years. Since joining the Ministry of Transport in 1966, he has held various important positions including Vice-Minister of Transport, Deputy Vice-Minister, Minister's Secretariat of the Ministry of Transport, and Director General of the Railway Bureau of the Ministry of Transport after having served as Deputy Director General of the Civil Aviation Bureau of the Ministry of Transport.

Mr. Umezaki graduated from Kyoto University in 1966 with a bachelor’s degree in law.
