All over the world, emission regulations have been upgraded to address the health concerns associated with NOx and PM. Reduction of NOx emissions can trade off with better fuel economy and CO2 reduction. The further reduction of emissions detrimental to human health has posed serious technological challenge to researchers and engineers. But technological break-throughs have made a reality of the “greener” trucks that can easily clear the most stringent emissions standards in the world, 2010 U.S. regulations. It’s a DME truck. The development of any “greener” truck alone does not pave the way for the spread of such trucks throughout the nation. How do you supply alternative fuels that run such trucks? How do you bring down the cost of production so that such trucks may be readily available to truck operators? What can a government do to promote such trucks? There are still many questions left unanswered. This conference introduces to the audience the state of the art emission reduction technology by putting on display a real DME truck in cooperation with Nissan Diesel.
