Robert "Bob" Larson
Senior Advisor, Office of Transportation and Air Quality, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
Bob Larson has spent 35 years working to improve automotive
emission control. For the past thirty years his work for the
US Environmental Protection Agency spanned all aspects of federal
programs. He has authored many regulations including in the
1970’s the first fuel economy regulations and since then
other regulations affecting emission sources ranging from chain
saws to heavy-duty engines. Recently, Bob has also worked on
programs aimed at reducing emissions through retrofitting of
in-use engines, reducing idling, encouraging land use development
that reduces dependence on vehicle use and other efforts that
promote voluntary actions to reduce emissions and fuel consumption.
Currently Bob devotes all of his time examining issues relating
to transportation’s impact on fuel consumption and emissions
of greenhouse gases.
Bob received his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering
and Masters in Applied Economics both from the University
of Michigan and a Masters in Business Administration from
Eastern Michigan University.
