  Robert "Bob" Larson

Senior Advisor, Office of Transportation and Air Quality, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

Bob Larson has spent 35 years working to improve automotive emission control. For the past thirty years his work for the US Environmental Protection Agency spanned all aspects of federal programs. He has authored many regulations including in the 1970’s the first fuel economy regulations and since then other regulations affecting emission sources ranging from chain saws to heavy-duty engines. Recently, Bob has also worked on programs aimed at reducing emissions through retrofitting of in-use engines, reducing idling, encouraging land use development that reduces dependence on vehicle use and other efforts that promote voluntary actions to reduce emissions and fuel consumption.
Currently Bob devotes all of his time examining issues relating to transportation’s impact on fuel consumption and emissions of greenhouse gases.

Bob received his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Masters in Applied Economics both from the University of Michigan and a Masters in Business Administration from Eastern Michigan University.
