  Hayao Hora

Vice-Minister for International Affairs, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport

Mr. Hayao Hora entered into the Ministry of Transport in 1971, and has held his current position as Vice-Minister for International Affairs since July 2003. Mr. Hora's work in the field of surface transportation began in June 1991 when he was appointed to the position of Director of the Road Affairs Division of the then Transport Policy Bureau. His title changed in July of 1991 with the Japanese government's reorganization to Director of Road Transport Planning Division with in the new Road Transport Bureau.

After a period of working within the Civil Aviation Bureau, Mr. Hora became the Director General of Policy Coordination in September of 2000. With a new set of reorganization efforts by the Ministry, in January of 2001 Mr. Hora was given the post of Director General of Policy Planning within what is now the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. Then in July of 2001, he became the Director General of the Road Transport Bureau.

Mr. Hayao Hora earned his bachelor's degree of law from the University of Tokyo.
