Masaaki Kobashi
Director
The International Shipping Division of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport
Masaaki Kobashi was appointed the Director of the International Shipping Division of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in Japan in July 2002, after serving for three years as the Senior Representative of the Japan International Transport Institute (JITI) in Washington, DC.
Prior to his transfer to Washington, Mr. Kobashi held various positions related to international affairs in the Japanese government. He served as Aviation Negotiator for the Ministry of Transport from 1998 to 1999, Director of the Office of Information Security Policy in the Ministry of International Trade and Industry from 1995 to 1998.
He has a M.A. in International Relations from Yale University.
