  Nicolaos L. Charalambous

Counsellor (Maritime Affairs) Cyprus High Commission

Nicolaos L. Charalambous is the Counsellor (Maritime Affairs) of the Cyprus High Commission in London and also serves as the Alternate Permanent Representative of the Republic of Cyprus to IMO.

Following studies in Cyprus, Canada and Sweden Mr. Charalambous started his working career in 1981 as an engineer surveyor and in 1987 he joined the Department of Merchant Shipping of the Ministry of Communications and Works of Cyprus as Marine Surveyor and Assistant Registrar of Cyprus ships.

From 1995 to 1999, Mr. Charalambous served as the Consul of the Republic of Cyprus in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Since 1988 he has represented Cyprus to numerous IMO meetings as well as meetings of the International Oil Pollution Compensation Funds and the International Mobile Satellite Organisation. In December 2002 he received the Distinguished Public Service Award of the United States Coast Guard.
